In an effort to live more sustainably, more consciously, and with less waste, I’ve made several changes over the past year. I’ve reduced plastic intake (a work in progress); I’ve stopped buying fast fashion and support small, ethical businesses whenever I can; and I’ve swapped many of my everyday toiletries for their natural counterparts.
Single use dryer sheets and fabric softeners are known to contain chemicals, toxins, carcinogens, and other harmful ingredients that cause irritations and respiratory problems. So for me, it was an easy choice to remove them from my home. Still need a few more reasons why you should ditch the dryer sheets and use a natural alternative like wool dryer balls?
↠ Unlike fabric softeners, which coat your clothing and make them harder to clean, wool dryer balls leave no residue.
↠ They reduce drying time, static cling, and wrinkles.
↠ Softens and fluffs up to 1000 loads of laundry before needing replacement.
↠ They’re biodegradable.
↠ You can easily make the scent your own with oils, or leave unscented if you’re like me and have sensitive skin.
One word of caution — not all dryer balls are the same, so if this is something you want to consider, keep the sheep happy by making sure they are cruelty free and ethically sourced!
